What's Wrong With Vanilla Cleaning Chocolat's Room In Sugar Sugar Rune?

Sunday, April 30, 2017
In episode 4 of the Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno, we see Vanilla cleaning Chocolat’s room. Why does she have to do that? What’s wrong with that?

No, seriously, why does Vanilla Mieux / Ice have to clean Chcolat’s room? Fine, we get it, she’s really nice and kind, etc, etc. But why does that have to mean that she should be the one to clean her best friend’s room?

She’s not a servant and she’s clearly distressed with having to do it. She even asks Chocolat Meilleure / Kato to help her, but the latter refuses. So, why would Vanilla clean her best friend’s room if she doesn’t want to?

It’s Kato’s room anyway, not hers, so why not just leave it up to her to clean? Why should it be her problem if Chocolat wants to live in a pig sty or something? What do you think?

What Makes Chocolat, Sugar Sugar Rune's Main Character, Annoying And Unlikable?

Monday, April 24, 2017
"Chocolat-chan, you’re so forcible."
- Vanilla Mieux / Ice

The above quote was said by Vanilla Mieux / Ice in episode 4 of the Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno, and, unfortunately for main character Chocolat, the words are true and not the least bit amusing. Why’s that?

Chocolat Meilleure / Kato is really, seriously forcible and it’s not amusing at all. She just goes around doing whatever she wants like how she keeps making a mess in her room and not even bothering to help her best friend Vanilla with cleaning up.
Chocolat Meilleure / Kato, Vanilla Mieux / Ice, sugar sugar rune, anime, manga, moyoco anno
It’s like she makes a mess and expects someone else to clean up after/for her. Then, when Vanilla is rewarded by Robin for a job well done, Chocolat gets to benefit from this reward even though she did absolutely nothing at all to help, much less warrant said reward.

Rockin’ Robin gives Vanilla the Magical World mail catalog as a reward and Ice is kind and generous enough to share it with Kato.

But Meilleure isn’t even grateful for it, like she expects her best friend to share it with her even though she doesn’t deserve it since it wasn’t like she did anything to help with the cleaning.

If anything, she just made Vanilla’s job harder since she keeps making a mess everywhere and leaving Mieux to clean up after her like a servant.

Then, there’s how Chocolat Kato pretty much just went around using the Lipstick of Truth on other people without asking for their permission. So, yeah, she is definitely forcible (not to mention annoying and unlikable at times) and that’s not a good thing at all. What do you think?

Why It Doesn't Make Sense For Chocolat To Have A Hard Time Getting Nishitani's Heart In Sugar Sugar Rune?

Tuesday, April 18, 2017
Also known as "Problems with Chocolat getting Nishitani's heart" or, to be more precise, "What’s the problem with Chocolat Meilleure / Kato not being able to get Nishitani’s heart right away?" She does eventually get it, but not right away and that makes all the difference. So, what’s wrong with that?

(*Warning for possible spoilers for said show)

In episode 3 of the Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno, Nishitani, the head of the newspaper club, has a crush on Chocolat, the main character.
Chocolat Meilleure / Kato, sugar sugar rune, nishitani, moyoco anno, anime, manga
His heart turns orange for her, and, naturally, Kato wants to get his heart. But, due to numerous reasons, she’s not able to get Nishitani’s heart right away. This seems really contrived though. Like, what was stopping her?

In the first episode, she had no problems using her magic in front of everyone when she was trying to summon the guard dog of hell and ended up getting Akira’s (one of her classmates) dog instead.

In the second episode, she readily cast magic in their classroom when Duke, her frog familiar, made the building fly. From the looks of it, there’s no issue with her casting magic or transforming in front of the non-magical people. So, what’s the problem with getting Nishitani’s heart?

And, seriously, how in the world could she forget that one time? That’s such a lame reason for not being able to get Nishitani’s heart right away. Why? It’s because of how important the Queen Contest is to her.

She says she wants to win for the sake of her mother (Cinnamon Meilleure) who didn’t get to be queen of the Magical World. So, for something so important to her, how could she forget? How could she not take this seriously? How does that even compute?

Then there’s that library scene where Nishitani interviews Chocolat. Right after that interview, she should have been able to get his heart already because it was just the 2 of them there. There wasn’t anyone else.

Pierre Tempête de Neige passed by and left right away, so what was stopping her from getting his heart? Why didn’t she get it? Speaking of the different scenes where Chocolat failed to get Nishitani’s heart, those scenes always seem to mark a new day.

So she’s been failing to get his heart for days. But the question is how come those scenes are the only opportunities or chances that she has to get his heart, like with him giving her the book or showing her the pictures?

They’re classmates. They share the same classes. And school doesn’t end in a few hours, all of which means she should have plenty of chances to take his heart. So, why doesn’t she take those other chances then? Why doesn’t she look for him?

Speaking of looking - when Nishitani was looking for her in that one scene, she doesn’t have a reason to hide from him and she says so herself, so why in the world did she hide from him then? She could have gotten his heart then. Seriously, doesn’t this all seem rather contrived? What do you think?

Why It's Wrong For Chocolat To Be Thinking About Pierre In Sugar Sugar Rune Episode 3?

Wednesday, April 12, 2017
In episode 3 of the Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno, Chocolat, the main female character, and Pierre, the main male character, see each other.

Or, to be more precise, Chocolat’s in the library and Pierre happens to pass by. Cue the obligatory flashback scene as Chocolat automatically thinks about Pierre. What’s wrong with this?

(*Warning for possible spoilers for said show)

Chocolat Meilleure / Kato is annoyed by the fact that Pierre passed by her in the library and completely ignored her and didn’t even say hi to her. She’s so bothered by this, but I really don’t see why. Seriously, why is this even an issue?
Pierre Tempête de Neige, Chocolat Meilleure / Kato, sugar sugar rune, anime, manga, moyoco anno
The 2 of them have barely spoken to each other. They can’t even be considered friends. They’re not in the same class. They’re not classmates. They’re not even the same age. He’s in middle school. She's in elementary school.

And he’s not pursuing her or courting her. So, why should it bother Kato so much that he’s ignoring her? Why should he be obligated to talk to her? Why does Chocolat have to think about Pierre Tempête de Neige?

She says she doesn’t like him, so why is she thinking about him then? Why doesn’t she just ignore him? Why does she suddenly want to take his heart? Where did that even come from? Seriously?

It’s clear that she’s already developing feelings for him, that she already likes him and it’s like where did that even come from? They don’t know each other. Is it because he’s handsome and good-looking? That’s so lame and shallow.

Besides, she’s going on about being irritated by him and supposedly not liking him and yet she wants to take his heart. LOL. The worst part is I can already see where this is going. They’re the main characters. Obviously, they’re going to end up together. Meh.

The problem is, so far, at this point, they’re not yet believable as a couple. Right now, it all just sounds so contrived and unbelievable especially if you take into consideration that they’ve hardly spoken and they don’t know anything about each other.

Pierre hasn’t even expressed any interest in her whatsoever (I’d still like to think that that ‘good morning’ scene wasn’t entirely directed at Chocolat because that’s just lame and reeks of main character favoritism, not to mention it doesn’t make sense because Kato wasn’t the only girl in that scene). So, what about you? What do you think?

What To Hate About The Pierre And Chocolat Library Scene In Sugar Sugar Rune Episode 3?

Thursday, April 06, 2017
In episode 3 of the Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno, there’s a scene where Pierre Tempête de Neige, the main male character, and Chocolat Meilleure / Kato, the main female character, see each other in the library. What’s wrong with this scene?

(*Warning for possible spoilers for said show)

Chocolat Kato is interviewed by Nishitani, one of her classmates, for the school newspaper in episode 3 of the Sugar Sugar Rune anime. They conduct the interview in the library. While she’s being interviewed, Pierre happens to pass by her.
Chocolat Meilleure / Kato, Pierre Tempête de Neige, sugar sugar rune, anime, manga, moyoco anno
He ignores her, but she notices him. Meilleure is upset that she’s being ignored. She gets all mad about it. But I don’t see why she should feel that way. So what if Pierre ignored her? It’s not like they’re friends or anything, so why would he even talk to her? They’re not even in the same class.

And she seemed so sure that Pierre said “good morning” to her the other day and that annoys me because, seriously, why is she so sure that he was talking to her? She wasn’t the only girl there at that time.

What if he was actually talking to Vanilla Mieux / Ice or to some of the other girls there? Why does it have to be Chocolat just because she’s the main character? Why does she have to act so entitled as if Pierre can’t say “god morning” to anyone else but her?

Also, seriously, why does Chocolat act like she’s so into Pierre already with how upset and mad she is that he ignored her when he saw her in the library? Why does she like him already? Is it because he’s good-looking? They’ve barely spoken to each other.

She gets all bothered that he ignores her and walks past her without talking to her and I’m like, they’re not friends. They have no reason to talk to each other. What does it matter if he ignores her? What’s wrong with Chocolat? Why should she care that he’s ignoring her? What do you think?
