Cho Chang (Harry Potter) Versus Hakkai (Saiyuki Series)

Tuesday, April 24, 2018
Harry Potter is a 7-book action, adventure, and fantasy series about wizards, witches, and magic. It was written by J.K. Rowling. The books were adapted into an eight-part film series by Warner Brothers Pictures. The story is about the life of the title character and how he deals with the trials and challenges that come his way as he tries to save the Muggle and Wizarding Worlds from the Dark Lord Voldemort, the antagonist or villain.

Saiyuki is an anime and manga series created by Kazuya Minekura. It stars 4 men as the protagonists. They are on a journey to the west in order to stop the resurrection of Gyumaoh, the Demon King. Along the way, they encounter assassins and demons who try to prevent them from achieving their goal. They are also confronted or have to deal with their tragic pasts.

What the 2 series have in common?

One of the things that the 2 aforementioned series have in common is how they each have a character who have the same name. The name in question is "Cho". The characters in question are Cho Chang from the Harry Potter series and Cho Hakkai from the Saiyuki series. It’s interesting to note that the Cho in Chang’s name is actually her first name whereas the Cho in Hakkai’s name is actually his last name.

Cho Hakkai from Saiyuki

Cho Hakkai (#ad) is actually one of the 4 main characters of the Saiyuki series. He has brown hair and green eyes. He is a very nice person who presents a gentlemanly nature. He can be seen as pretty much always smiling and being cheerful. He’s reliable, observant and an expert at cooking.

But you shouldn’t underestimate him because he’s actually a human-turned demon and you wouldn’t want to be up against him in the battlefield. He is a force to be reckoned with. He also has a very dark and tragic past, hiding his pain behind his smile.

Cho Chang from Harry Potter

Cho Chang (#ad) is a witch and a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is the Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. She is said to be very beautiful and she’s quite popular. Even Harry Potter, the main character of the HP series, had a crush on her and they went out for a short while in the fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Chang appears to be rather moody and melodramatic, not to mention angsty, though this could very well be because her boyfriend, Cedric Diggory, had been murdered near the end of book 4, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

More similarities between Chang and Hakkai

Aside from the name that they share, both Chos are also similar in that they are intelligent. Chang was sorted into Ravenclaw House in Hogwarts, which was said to be the house for smart people.

On the other hand, Hakkai helps Genjo Sanzo (one of the main characters of the Saiyuki series as well as the leader of their group) plan for their journey such as deciding where they should go next, etc.

Results Of The Favorite Sora Poll

Saturday, April 14, 2018
I added an Opinion Stage poll to this post where I talked about two characters from two different series who happened to have the same name. The name in question was "Sora," which means "sky" in Japanese. And the series in question are Kingdom Hearts and Digimon.

Digimon is a Japanese media franchise which includes anime, manga, video games, and more. The series is about creatures known as Digital Monsters. They live in the Digital World. Characters known as the Digidestined are tasked to raised these beings. Sora Takenouchi (#ad) is one of these people. Her Digimon is named Biyomon.

On the other hand, Kingdom Hearts is a series of role-playing video games for various platforms such as PlayStation 1 to 4, Xbox 1, and more. Sora (#ad) is the name of the main character of this series. After losing his world, he travels to many different and other worlds where he gets to meet all sorts of people and have all sorts of adventures.

Anyway, for reasons which I'll talk about in another post on another one of my blogs, I decided to delete the Opinion Stage poll and replace it with one from SurveyMonkey instead.

Sora (Kingdom Hearts) Versus Takenouchi (Digimon Series)

Wednesday, April 04, 2018
Kingdom Hearts is a series of action, adventure, and role-playing games for various platforms including PlayStation 1 to 4, Xbox 1, and Nintendo 3DS. The entire series is owned by Disney and is developed and published by Square Enix. Part of the story has the main character traveling to different worlds in search of his friends.

Along the way, he meets many different characters from Disney and the Final Fantasy series. Of course, there's way more to it than that. By now, with so many games having been released, including sequels and prequels, the plot has become much more complicated.

Digimon is an anime, manga and video game series. The Japanese media franchise also includes a trading card game, virtual pet toys and more. It was created by Akiyoshi Hongo, Toei Animation, WiZ, and Bandai. It’s about Digital Monsters who live in the Digital World. These creatures are raised by people known as the Digidestined, and they all work together to protect their universe from evil.

What the 2 series have in common?

One of the things that the 2 aforementioned series have in common is how they each have a character with the same name. The name in question is "Sora" and the characters are Sora Takenouchi from Digimon (particularly Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02) and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. The Japanese name actually means "sky". It’s also interesting to note that the 2 are of different genders even if they share the same first name.

Sora Takenouchi from Digimon

Sora Takenouchi (#ad) is one of the main characters of the Digimon series. Her Digimon partner is known as Biyomon.

She likes playing soccer. She’s a very kind and nice person who can also be considered to be motherly and kind-hearted as she is always looking out for her friends and loved ones.

Sora from Kingdom Hearts

Sora (#ad) is the main character from the Kingdom Hearts series. It’s interesting to note that he doesn’t actually have a last name, just like Toya from the Ayashi No Ceres anime and manga series by Yuu Watase.

He’s the wielder of the totally awesome and famous Keyblade. He is a cheerful and fun person who’s wont to smile and laugh. He exudes a happy personality and can even be a bit naïve at times, appearing innocent.
