How Does Love Work In Sugar Sugar Rune?

In episode 6 of the Sugar Sugar Rune anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno, we find out more about the code of the Magical World. But everything is still really confusing. Exactly how does love work in this show? What’s so confusing about all this?

The code of the Magical World states that:

“The heart is yours to take. But you must not allow your own to be taken.”

Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) episode 6 seems to imply that this code refers particularly to humans, meaning that magical people are apparently not allowed to fall in love with humans. But why not? What’s wrong with magical people and humans falling in love?

I mean, humans don’t have magic, so they can’t get hearts in the way that Chocolat Meilleure / Kato and Vanilla Mieux / Ice, the main characters, and all the other magical people can get the hearts of humans. So, how can the hearts of the magical people be taken then?

And what’s wrong with having their hearts taken? From what we’ve seen so far with the humans, nothing bad happens to them even when their hearts are taken. They just lose the feelings that came with their hearts. But it seems that magical people can keep inducing those feelings on the same person over and over again. Is that right or what?

So, with all that said, exactly what happens when a magical person falls in love with a human and why is that so bad? Why is that so bad that it’s not allowed and that it’s apparently a crime with a hefty punishment? What do you think?

What's Wrong With Chocolat Using The Magical Fortune-Telling Book In Sugar Sugar Rune?

The above quote was said by a magical, talking fortune-telling book in episode 6 of the Sugar Sugar Rune anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno. What’s up with this quote?

Okay, let’s just get this out of the way now - the magical fortune-telling book in Sugar Sugar Rune is completely and utterly useless. Seriously, just look at the quote shown above.

What is it even supposed to mean and how is it supposed to help Chocolat Meilleure / Kato (#ad) who is worrying about having to beat Pierre Tempête de Neige in a fencing match so she can join the fencing club?

It’s important to make an effort, to try your best, to work hard - this is common sense, isn’t it? Chocolat doesn’t need some magic book to tell her what she should already know.

Of course, she needs to work hard and make an effort in actually learning how to fence so she has a chance against Pierre who is the captain of the fencing club.

Sheesh, what’s the use of having a magical fortune-telling book if it only tells you things you already know, if it doesn’t even really help you at all? What do you think?

Why Chocolat, Sugar Sugar Rune's Main Character, Doesn't Need Help?

"Tell us what we should do to properly greet our teacher."

The above quote was said by Chocolat, the main female character, in episode 5 of the Sugar Sugar Rune (#ad) anime and manga series by Moyoco Anno. What is wrong or what’s the problem with this quote?

Chocolat Meilleure / Kato addresses the above quote to this talking magical fortune-telling book. Her homeroom teacher, Mochizuki-sensei, will visit her house to talk to Robin, her guardian. When she finds the magical book, she asks it for help by saying the aforementioned quote.

But, seriously, why does Kato need this magical book to tell her what to do? Why is this even an issue? Yes, Rockin’ Robin said he will be a little late in getting back home to talk to the teacher, but so what?

What’s with a few minutes or even an hour of waiting? And how hard is it to greet someone? It’s not like Chocolat is shy or anything. We know how outgoing she is and what kind of personality she has (loud, brash, outspoken, unafraid).

So, what could she have done then if Mochizuki-sensei arrives before Robin? She and Vanilla Mieux / Ice (her best friend who also lives with her) can take her to the living room and sit her down on a chair. Ice can then offer her tea or coffee or whatever beverage they have as well as some food.

They can then explain that Robin will be a bit late. Then they can make small talk with her while they wait for Robin to show up. So, how is it that Chocolat needs some fortune-telling book to tell her that?

In fact, I’d say said magic book just ended up causing trouble for her because she somehow got it into her head that it was a very good idea to have Duke, her familiar, and Blanca, Vanilla’s familiar, pretend to be Robin and entertain their teacher thanks to what the book told her in answer to her query.

If they’d just stayed put in the living room talking to Mochizuki-sensei while waiting for Robin to arrive, none of the pointless and contrived things that happened in this episode would have had to happen.

Also, I have to wonder why Robin has a magical fortune-telling book anyway (since Kato found said book while rummaging around in the cupboards of Robin’s house)?

The guy doesn’t seem to be the type to use one especially since the book was hidden away. Was it a gift to him or something? If so, why’d he keep it then? What do you think about all this?
