I saw a few episodes of this anime known as Chrome Shelled Regios (#ad). It seems pretty interesting so far though I don't fully get everything that's going on as of now since I didn't get to see it from the beginning.
In this post, what'd I'd like to focus on is the title question. Why is it that pretty much everyone in this show seems to be in love with the character of Layfon Wolfstein Alseif, the protagonist? At least, that's what I've noticed so far.
I don't get it either. What's so special about this guy? Why do they all like him? Is it just because he's the main character? It seems to contrived, so ridiculous.
I mean, one or two people being in love with him could be believable enough, but to have basically everyone fall for him? Isn't that a little too much, not to mention extremely unrealistic? After all, different people like different types of people.
From what I've seen, it seems that Nina Antalk, Felli Loss and Mayshen Torinden, three characters with very different personalities, are all clearly in love with Layfon. They compete for his attention, like how Mayshen cooks him food. Then there's how Nina and Felli were arguing about who gets to help Alseif with the cooking.
As if that wasn't already more than enough, there were other girls too, and they all seem friendly enough with Wolfstein. There isn't anything blatant being shown to us viewers yet, so they might or might not be in love with him. I certainly hope they're not.
Do you find it annoying how there are stories or shows where it seems that everyone just flocks to the main character, like he or she is the most special snowflake out there? Either they're all in love with him or her or they all want him or her to pay attention to them. Don't you find this cliche? And don't you think that just makes the main character come across as a Mary Sue or Gary Stu? What can you say about this?
