Rin (Inuyasha) Versus Tohsaka (Fate / Stay Night)

Sunday, March 25, 2018
Inuyasha and Fate / Stay Night are anime and manga series. Inu-Yasha or Inuyasha was created by Rumiko Takahashi. It's a story about a high school girl who falls into a well and ends up in the past. She meets a half-demon and the 2 eventually go on a journey to locate the shards of a very powerful magical jewel before it can cause trouble.

Fate / Stay Night was created by Type-Moon. It was originally a visual novel game. It is about a tournament known as the Fifth Holy Grail War. The participants of this competition are known as Masters and they can call on historical heroes and figures from the past (who will be known as Servants) to help them fight and win. Whoever wins can have their wish granted by the Holy Grail.

What the 2 series have in common?

One thing that the 2 aforementioned series have in common is how they each have a character who have the same first name. The name in question is "Rin" and the 2 characters are Rin Tohsaka (or Tousaka) from Fate / Stay Night and Rin from Inuyasha. Both may be female, but they are highly different, not just in terms of their age, but also in their personalities.

Rin from Inuyasha

Note that Rin from Inuyasha (#ad) does not have a last name. She is an 8-year old orphan whose entire family was murdered by thieves. Due to this incident, she lost her voice and never spoke to anyone until certain events happened that got her talking again.

Now, she is a happy, cheerful and talkative person who really looks up to Sesshōmaru, the older half-brother of Inuyasha, the main character of the series, and a very powerful demon who can be quite cold and ruthless. However, he does care about Rin, considering his actions such as how he does his best to protect her and even lets her travel with him.

Rin Tohsaka from Fate / Stay Night

Rin Tohsaka (#ad) is a high school student and one of the main characters of Fate / Stay Night. She is part of the Fifth Holy Grail War and is the Master of Archer, her Servant. She comes across as a stern person with a serious personality.

She’s not one to joke or play around. She always appears composed. She is also a capable and pretty powerful person. Her magical abilities include using spells and jewels.

Aya Mikage (Ayashi No Ceres) Versus Fujimiya (Weiss Kreuz)

Thursday, March 15, 2018
Weiss Kreuz and Ayashi No Ceres are anime and manga series. Weiss Kreuz (Weiß Kreuz, also known as Knight Hunters) was created by Koyasu Takehito. It's a story about 4 assassins who work in a flower shop when they’re not off taking the lives of people who are above the law. They each have their own reasons for choosing to take this kind of job.

Ayashi No Ceres (also known as Ceres, Celestial Legend) was created by Yuu Watase. It's about a girl who is actually the reincarnation of a celestial maiden. This maiden is looking for her celestial robe and she intends to kill the girl’s family, so it’s up to the girl to sort all of this out and find out what’s really going on.

What the 2 series have in common?

One thing that the 2 aforementioned series have in common is that they each have a character who have the same first name. The name in question is "Aya" and the characters are Aya Fujimiya from Weiss Kreuz and Aya Mikage from Ayashi No Ceres.

Aya Fujimiya from Weiss Kreuz

Depending on which way you look at it, Aya Fujimiya could refer to two different people. The first is the character from Weiss Kreuz who really has the name, but is more commonly known as Aya-chan, and the second is her older brother whose real name is Ran Fujimiya (#ad), but who is more commonly known as Aya.

Aya-chan (#ad) is portrayed as a nice, kind, sweet, and caring person. However, there isn't much information about her, seeing as she was mostly in a coma for the duration of Weiss Kreuz.

Ran is rather different from his little sister. He is serious and stoic, silent and mysterious, not to mention a very capable and deadly swordsman slash assassin. But, aside from all that, he is a very caring and protective big brother who really loves his little sister.

In fact, the reason why Ran started working as an assassin was because he needed money to pay for his sister's medical bills. His love for his sister reminds me of the way Toya Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura cares about Sakura Kinomoto, his younger sister. However, Ran's stoicism and seriousness is all rather similar to Toya's personality from Ayashi No Ceres.

Aya Mikage from Ayashi No Ceres

Aya Mikage (#ad) is the main character of Ayashi No Ceres. She used to be just a typical normal high school student until certain events changed her life.

She found out that she’s actually the reincarnation of a celestial maiden named Ceres. She has to deal with many things such as finding Ceres’ celestial robes and even romance as she comes to terms with her feelings for the mysterious Toya.

Toya (Ayashi No Ceres) Versus Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura)

Monday, March 05, 2018
Card Captor Sakura and Ayashi No Ceres are anime and manga series. Cardcaptor Sakura was created by CLAMP. It’s a magical and fantasy story about a girl who is tasked to find and seal magical cards before they can cause trouble and wreak havoc in the world.

Ayashi No Ceres or Ceres, Celestial Legend was created by Yuu Watase. The story also features magic and powers and it’s about a girl who happens to be the reincarnation of a celestial maiden. She must find the celestial robe that belongs to this maiden before her entire family is killed.

What the 2 series have in common?

One of the things that the aforementioned series have in common (apart from being in the fantasy genre and involving a lot of magic) is that they each have a character who shares the same first name. The name in question is "Toya" and the characters are Toya Kinomoto from Card Captor Sakura and Toya from Ayashi No Ceres. Note that the names of these two could also be spelled as "Touya" though they’re pretty much pronounced the same way.

Toya Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura

Toya Kinomoto (#ad) is actually the older brother of Sakura Kinomoto, the protagonist or main character of Card Captor Sakura. He is very tall and handsome with dark brown hair and eyes.

He likes teasing and making fun of his little sister, calling her "kaiju (monster)," but the truth is that he really cares about her and is always looking out for her. He’s a very protective big brother who does his best to make sure that Sakura is always safe and unharmed.

This is one of the things I like about CCS' Toya - how he's a genuinely nice guy. He may not always show it to Sakura, but viewers or readers can see it for themselves via his actions. It's admirable how he's always there for Sakura, how he's always trying to help.

Toya from Ayashi No Ceres

Toya (#ad) is the main love interest of Aya Mikage, the protagonist of Ayashi No Ceres. It’s interesting to note that he doesn’t have a last name. The reason for that is partly because he doesn’t remember his past and partly because of who he really is.

He initially worked for the Mikages and one of his tasks was to protect Aya. He later falls deeply in love with her and the 2 even have a child together.

This Toya comes across as too stoic. He always looks indifferent or very serious and mysterious. It can be hard to get a handle on how he's really feeling since he's not the type to express himself or his emotions.

Your favorite Toya

The two characters in question may share the same name, but their personalities are very different, to say the least. So, who’s your favorite Toya? The fun, cool and awesome big brother or the loving and mysterious one?

You can share your thoughts and opinion by taking the quick poll below. Know another Toya or like another one who isn't mentioned here? Feel free to tell us about this character. Mention their name and the series they're from in the comments section below.
